Police were investigating after a man was found dead early Friday morning.
According to police, the man was struck by a driver, who then fled the scene.
The unidentified man was found in the middle of in the 1600 block of Arrowood Loop on the north side.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene shortly before 7 a.m.
Sgt. Rich Weiner with the Columbus Division of Police said that officers determined the man’s death was likely a result of a hit-skip crash.
“We have no witnesses to the accident itself, and we have no description of the vehicle,” Weiner said.
Resident John Carry said that he woke up Friday to find a commotion outside of his door.
“I have seen a lot of officers out here,” Carry said. “There were six or seven squad cars.”
Police and neighbors want to know who is responsible for the man’s death.
“It’s sad, but it’s not really surprising in this day and age in which we live,” Carry said.
Police said that they believed they knew the identity of the victim but are not releasing it until family members are notified.
