Window Smashed, Cash Taken From Hilliard Restaurant

UPDATED: Thursday December 20, 2012 1:49 PM

Police are investigating after someone smashed a window at a Hilliard restaurant and took cash.

The crime occurred Thursday morning around 5 a.m. at the Kyo Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet on Park Mill Run Drive.

Xiao Zhang is home from college, but she did not expect to deal with a break-in at her family’s business.

“It's a petty crime, and it's a little bit scary to have to deal with this kind of situation,” said Zhang.

The thief crawled inside after breaking the window with a rock.

Surveillance cameras captured a glimpse of the thief.

Zhang said the business has only been open a few months.

“WE'RE KIND of new here and we're kind of hoping the community would welcome us,” said Zhang.

Zhang said she is glad her family was not hurt. They are looking for more options to protect the building. Hilliard Police say it's unclear if the suspect acted alone. If you have information give them a call.
