A spill that caught the attention of Downtown workers has been cleaned up.

According to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, about 15 gallons of hydraulic oil on a railroad bridge near Veterans Memorial spilled into the river around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

OEPA officials said that a Norfolk Southern track machine crossed the bridge and a hose discharged oil into the river.

Officials said that the cleanup is complete, and though there still might be a slight sheen on the river tomorrow, there is no cause for concern.

The EPA tells us this oil breaks down very quickly in the environment, and that only a small amount made it into the water. They did not expect any environmental impact.
