Westerville Man Arrested On Child Porn Charges After 2-Month Investigation

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said that it arrested a man after he hijacked an Internet connection to download child pornography.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, Gabriel Jacoby was arrested on Tuesday after a two-month child pornography investigation.

In mid-October, investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Braxton Place West in Westerville. None of the computers inside of the home were found to contain child porn, investigators said.

Investigators said that they discovered that the Internet connection at the house at which the warrant was served had an unlocked Wi-Fi Internet connection, which would allow someone from outside of the house to connect and download pornography.

On Tuesday, investigators served a search warrant at Jacoby’s Braxton Place West residence and located child pornography, sheriff’s officials said.

Officials said that Jacoby admitted to possessing and downloading child porn and admitted to using the unlocked wireless Internet network to do so.

In addition to child porn charges, Jacoby could be charged with unauthorized use of property, sheriff’s officials said.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office warned anyone with an unsecured Internet connection to make sure their network is password protected.
