The Craig Realty Group plans to open a 350,000-square-foot outlet center in Sunbury.

According to the company, which stated in a release that it is the largest independent outlet developer in the country, said that the outlet facility is slated for 1,000 acres east and west of Interstate 71, just south of U.S. Route 36 and state Route 37.

"After almost two years of research, including dialogue with community building authorities and conducting transportation studies, we believe we have found the ideal location for the new center," said Steven L. Craig, president and CEO of Craig Realty Group.

According to the company’s website, the Craig Realty Group operates and manages 4.3 million square feet of existing retail development in the U.S. It owns 11 centers in seven states.

The company said that it has plans to build seven other shopping centers, including the one in Columbus. Representatives said that the company plans to break ground on the project late next year to early 2014.
