A preschool director faces a number of charges after allegedly biting a child.
According to the police report, Patricia Edwards, the director of preschool at The Gardner School of Dublin, located on Emerald Parkway, bit a 2-year-old after the child was taken to the school's office for biting another child.
Another teacher at the school told police that Edwards bit the child on his arm. School officials notified the child's mother about the alleged Dec. 13 incident, according to the report.
Police said that interviews revealed that Edwards sat the child on a couch in the school's office and asked him if he would like to be bitten. The student said "no," and a short time later, Edwards was allegedly overheard saying "I might have bit him quite hard."
According a police report, Edwards said "yep" when asked if she bit the student.
The police report said that Edwards said it was a "stupid thing to do."
Rochelle Koznick, the Gardner School regional manager, said that Edwards was immediately fired when school officials found out what allegedly took place.
“We were very upset and saddened by the news,” Koznick said. “Safety and high quality is our No. 1 priority for our children.”
10TV News went to Edwards’ home, but she declined to comment.
Edwards was charged with child endangering, assault and disorderly conduct.
Edwards had been at the school for five years.
The preschool director was summoned to the Franklin County Municipal Court.
