Investigators are searching for answers in the death of Dalton Keim, 2.

A man and his wife face involuntary manslaughter charges after their 2-year-old son died of injuries after being burned.

Investigators said that someone knocked a pot of boiling water off a stove inside of the 2-year-old Dalton Keim’s home in May. The boiling water burned more than one-third of the boy’s body.

A grand jury indicted William and Jenica Keim.

Authorities said that the family tried to use an Amish burn remedy on the boy instead of taking him to a hospital. A report stated that the family waited 16 hours after the incident before calling 911.

Dalton Keim died after going into cardiac arrest.

The boy’s father left the Amish community several years ago.
