Liberty Township trustees voted to lay off four firefighters at a meeting Monday night.

The township is dealing with budget concerns following the defeat of a fire renewal levy in November.

Last month, trustees warned as many as 20 firefighter jobs could be in jeopardy.

City officials said they do not have enough money to keep up with the growing community.

A new fire levy will be on the February ballot.
