Ohio Parole Board has recommended mercy for obese killer who says he's too fat to be executed.

Attorneys for death row inmate Ronald Post argued that the assertions that he confessed to the 1983 shooting of Elyria motel clerk Helen Vantz have been falsely exaggerated.

Post is also fighting next month's execution in federal courts by arguing he is too fat to be put to death humanely.

Gov. John Kasich will have the final say on the parole board ruling.

Some board members seemed concerned at a hearing last week about Post's no contest plea.

The Lorain County prosecutor said Post acknowledged responsibility for the crime by making the plea.
