A woman said that she was getting ready for work when she found a man armed with a knife in her house.
Amanda McLaren said that she did not realize the man was there until she found him going through her closet. She said that the intruder had already rummaged through her 8-year-old daughter's room.
"She's out with her dad so I mean it was a good thing that she's there instead of here," McLaren said.
McLaren said that when she confronted the man, he not only kicked her cat, but punched and kicked her as well. She said she soon realized he was holding a knife.
"I just decided to give up and let him take what he's taking, you know? Just get him out of here." McClaren said."I'm not trying to fight somebody who has a weapon."
The attacker grabbed McLaren's expensive jewelry and money before he left.
"I was actually really glad that he just took my money and my stuff and left," McLaren said.
McLaren said that she suffered some soreness from the attack, but that she was lucky. She said she would be sure to keep her home secure.
