The Columbus Metropolitan Library Board has approved the purchase of land for a new Driving Park Branch.

The land is being purchased at 1422 E. Livingston Avenue.

Officials said the current Driving Park Branch is undersized with antiquated facilities.

“This new building is one of the most substantive investments in Driving Park in a generation,” said CML CEO Pat Losinski in a news release. “We’re not just building new facilities. We’re meeting our communities’ needs now and in the future with inspiring spaces.”

The board said the new building is scheduled to be open in 2014.
