Custodian Charged In Fire On Ohio University Rooftop

The Ohio University Police Department has charged a school custodian in a Nov. 30 fire on the roof of the Research and Technology Center.

Police said Jason N. Brown, 32, of Chauncey is charged with criminal damaging for the fire at the building on Richland Avenue which occurred just after midnight.

Authorities said Brown started the fire when he discarded a cigarette after smoking on the roof.

There were no injuries in the fire, but it caused more than $21,000 in damage.
