The women's wing of the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion could reopen thanks to new funding.
According to Marion County Commissioners, the wing was closed earlier in 2012 because of budget cuts.
County leaders said that they will be able to hire six new corrections officers with their share of statewide casino revenue.
The jail budget will have to be approved by commissioners, who are expected to vote next week.
If commissioners approve the budget, the wing could reopen as soon as Jan. 6.
