Ohio hunters will be back in the woods this weekend for an additional deer-gun harvest.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife added the extra hunting time in 2006 in response to requests for extended weekend hours.
Hunters can use a legal shotgun, muzzleloader or handgun to pursue white-tailed deer Dec. 15-16 from a half-hour before sunrise to sunset.
A deer permit is required in addition to a valid Ohio hunting license. Hunters must purchase an additional permit to hunt more than one deer.
The Division of Wildlife said that 86,964 deer were harvested during the traditional deer-gun season from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2.
