A teenager planned to find a new means of getting to school after a frightening experience.
The teenager, who requested anonymity, said that she was walking along a path near East Maynard Avenue, when a stranger exposed himself and attempted to get her to perform a sex act.
The man became aggressive.
“He grabbed my arm and I snatched away,” the girl said. “He grabbed me again like, more aggressive.”
The girl escaped the man’s grasp and took off.
“I was scared,” she said. “I tried to play tough, but I was a little scared.”
The girl ran to Linden-McKinley High School and told her principal about what happen.
Liza Bowman was shocked to hear of her daughter’s ordeal.
Now, Bowman said she is worried about letting her children walk to school.
“What other way am I supposed to get them to school?” Bowman said. “That’s the only alternative, for them to walk. They gave them a bus last year but not this year.”
The victim said she always takes this path to school with her sister. That day, she was running late and was walking alone. A mistake she said she would not make again.
It was not known if parents were notified of the incident.
The girl described the man as having a tattoo of three teardrops on his face. Further details were not available.
