Police said that they were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle - that may have been driven by a police impersonator.

The investigation comes after a man told police that a dark colored Chevrolet Caprice pulled up behind him Monday night along U.S. Route 23, near Pennsylvania Avenue.

The vehicle had a flashing light on the roof. The driver honked the horn and flashed the car’s headlights.

The man said that he had doubts about the vehicle, so he continued to drive to work. When the man refused to pull over, the suspect vehicle drove away.

Police were working to learn if this was a true case of a police impersonator or an off-duty officer or firefighter.
