The man police arrested on Tuesday in connection with a crash that killed one person and injured an officer faces several domestic violence charges from incidents in recent weeks.
On Nov. 30, Jones ran from police after officers said they found him violating a protection order at his former girlfriend's residence.
Vernon Lightle was killed when Officer Enrique Ortega responded to the call and his cruiser collided with Lightle's vehicle.
Authorities said one of the reasons they had pursued Jones is that they feared for Jones's former girlfriend's safety.
Court documents stated that Jones had called his former girlfriend the morning of the incident and threatened to come "over with a sledge hammer to bash your head in."
According to court documents, Jones is charged in connection with striking his girlfriend during an argument on Oct. 25. They also charge him with trying to kick in the door of the residence on Nov. 25.
Jones faces charges for domestic violence, aggravated menacing, failure to comply and multiple protection order violations.
A judge set a million dollar bond for Jones on Wednesday.
Sharon Lightle, the daughter of the 78-year-old man who died, said that she still is unable to understand what happened.
"You know, he wasn't bothering anyone, he was just doing his thing," Sharon said. "It's just so unbelievable, I mean. If he would have died of natural causes, I could have accepted that. But not this way. Not this way.
Lightle's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday evening in Grove City at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel.
