A proposed plan to ease traffic congestion along Parsons Avenue would eliminate some on-street parking spaces.

The city wants to add a center turn lane between Livingston Avenue and Hosack Street.

City officials said that the project would make the route safer to travel.

Some merchants said that fewer parking spaces would keep customers away.

The South Side Area Commission planned to discuss the proposal at a public meeting slated for Tuesday evening at the Barack Recreation Center on Woodrow Avenue.
