Family Turns Threatening Graffiti, Arson Into Christmas Message

UPDATED: Monday December 3, 2012 2:59 PM
A family is trying to make something good out of a frightening situation.

Canal Winchester resident Dustin Bower said that someone sprayed threatening graffiti on his home, located in the 6400 block of Stretton Place, early Friday morning.

"I'll shoot you next time," was one of several messages left behind. Bower also said that some of the messages also had racial undertones.

His house also caught fire after one of the vehicles in the driveway was set on fire. The fire quickly spread to another vehicle and then to the house, causing damage to the garage, fire crews told 10TV News.

According to fire officials, a gas tank was found at the scene.

Bower and his family painted over the graffiti with a Christmas scene over the weekend.

He told 10TV News that he did not want the crime to put a damper on his family's holiday.

The Madison Township Fire Department said on Monday that they officially were investigating the fire as arson.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the fire department at 614-837-7883.
