Ohio State University will spend thousands of dollars in repairs following last week’s Beat Michigan Week celebration at Mirror Lake.

More than 10,000 students gathered around the lake near the center of campus.

Many of those students braved the chilly waters as part of an annual student tradition.

OSU will pay landscapers to repair and replace sod around the lake.

They spent nearly $19,000 on those repairs last year.

While students gather every year before the michigan game to jump into the lake, Ohio State's Office of Student Life discourages students from taking part.

They say the combination of alcohol, crowds, water and cold conditions may not be safe.

Along with repair costs, the university also paid employees to cover security at Mirror Lake during the event.
