Newark Catholic fell in the final seconds of the Division VI championship game to Maria Stein Marion Local.
The final score was 28-21 in the game played at Massillon's Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.
Maria Stein Marion Local scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 21 seconds left to give the Flyers the victory, according to the Newark Advocate.
This is the sixth state championship for the Flyers, according to the OHSAA. The Green Wave were attempting to win their ninth title.
