The Lakewood Local Schools superintendent said vandals broke into Hebron Elementary School over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Hebron police are investigating the case.

Superintendent Jay Gaul said that the culprits used a brick to break a window. Once inside, vandals did not steal anything but instead made a mess using fire extinguishers and paint.

Gaul said it was the first time anything like this has happened that he can remember.

The maintenance staff spent all day Monday cleaning up the school and had everything back to normal by the time students returned from Thanksgiving break on Tuesday.
