A Circleville man was sentenced to 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to animal cruelty charges.

According to the Pickaway County Prosecutor's Office, Kyle A.  Jenkins was charged with two counts of animal cruelty after officials found a decapitated puppy inside of 19-year-old Jenkins' apartment in September.

The Circle Area Humane Society and Circleville police executed a search warrant at Jenkins' apartment and found two dead dogs and a neglected cat, according to court documents.

One of the dead dogs, identified as a Papillon, was found with its head cut off. Both dogs were covered in maggots, documents stated.

Jenkins will spend 10 days in jail and will face two years of probation.

He was sentenced to 360 days in jail with 350 of those days suspended.
