Orange Township Needs More Time Before Making Fire Dept. Cuts

UPDATED: Tuesday November 27, 2012 7:03 AM

Board members decided they needed more public input before making any decisions about cuts within the fire department.

Orange Township voters said no to a fire levy in November, since then officials have been warning of cuts to the department.

Firefighters showed up Monday night for a trustee meeting, worried about the future of their careers.

“Just the moral is at an all time low,” Orange Township Assistant Fire Chief Matt Noble said. “This indecisiveness only sends that deeper.”

Orange township trustees said that they would talk cuts again in two weeks. Trustees voted recently to put a new decreased fire levy on the ballot in February.
