A puppy was recovering after being rescused from a west side creek.
The woman who rescued the pup said that she saw a man dump the dog in the creek, located near Tamarack Boulevard.
The woman waded into the water, up to her knees, to rescue the crated dog. She reached the pup just as the crate dipped below the surface.
“It was very disturbing when we learned the circumstances but the citizen took action and basically saves the dogs life,” said Joe Rock, of Franklin County Animal Care and Control.
The pup was named “Rio.” A rescue group plans to pick him up on Tuesday to help him get adopted.
The shelter said that anyone who cannot care for an animal, can drop off the dog at the shelter at any time.
