The Ross County Sheriff is asking for $230,000 more next year.

The money would cover, among other things, the cost of hiring a new detective.

Ross County Sheriff George W. Lavender Jr. said that this department has needed a new detective for some time.

The rest of the increase would cover things like annual raises, computer maintenance and higher insurance costs.

The Ross County Commissioners are hearing budget requests through next month, with a vote expected soon after.
