A woman who stole tens of thousands of dollars from a charity to fund a gambling addiction was ordered to pay restitution on Monday.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine ordered Martha Springer to pay $35,000 to children’s charities and holiday programs to provide gifts to underprivileged children.

According to DeWine’s office, 64-year-old Springer stole tens of thousands of dollars from an organization called Tips for Tops, which is similar to but not associated with the Toys for Tots Foundation.

The theft occurred between January 2008 and December 2010, DeWine said. Tips for Tots no longer is in operation.

As part of Springer’s intervention, she will be required to complete community service.
