Vehicle Crashes Into Building, Causing Gas Leak Along Cleveland Avenue

Emergency crews were called after a vehicle crashed into a building and caused a gas leak.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, the car struck a building and a gas meter in the 3600 block of Cleveland Avenue before 5:20 a.m.

Cleveland Avenue was closed between Lamont and Elmore avenues while crews moved in. No one was found inside the vehicle when investigators arrived.

Police in Clinton Township confirmed that they later caught up the person suspected of driving the vehicle. The driver, whose identity was not released, was transported to Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver was expected to be charged with failure to control. The leak was contained and road reopened by 6:53 a.m.
