A driver was recovering after crashing into a pond in New Albany.

The man was heading east when his pick-up truck ran off the side of the road, crashed through a fence and some trees around 2 p.m.

After striking the trees, the man crossed both eastbound and westbound lanes before plunging into the pond.

The driver, whose identity was not released, escaped from the truck on his own. Witnesses said that it appeared the man passed out.

Bystanders helped him dry off with blankets until paramedics arrived. He was not seriously injured.
