Police arrested a man accused of impersonating an officer and robbing women.

According to investigators, Guy H. Merrill would arrange to meet women from adult websites.

Merrill allegedly would arrive and identify himself as an undercover Columbus police officer. He would then tell the women they were under arrest and rob them. Police said that he would allegedly take cash, electronics and other valuables.

The Columbus Division of Police said that the man would equip himself with police-related gear.

Merrill, of Delaware, was charged with robbery, kidnapping and impersonating an officer.

Police ask anyone who has encountered a similar situation to call the Columbus Division of Police Robbery Squad at 614-645-4665.
