Fairfield County Sheriff's officials said that they located a man who walked away from a Fairfield County Jail while on work duty Monday.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, Elias Farrar walked away while on work duty at a minimum-security facility, located at U.S. Route 33 and Wheeling Street, at 11:40 a.m.

According to authorities, Farrar was an inmate worker, also called a "trustee." He was unloading a bread truck at the facility when he slipped away.

He was in jail for a probation violation and possession of drug instruments.

Law enforcement officials on the scene said that Farrar, a Lancaster resident, hid behind a building while he tried to escape.

Sheriff's officials said that they caught Farrar at an apartment in the 100 block of East Walnut Street at about 3:30 p.m.

Farrar will face an escape charge, which is a felony of a third degree.
