‘Green Glove’ Bandit Possibly Linked To 12 Robberies

Police said that the man who robbed a gas station Thursday morning has struck before.

Investigators said that a man wearing green gloves and pants, now dubbed the “Green Glove Bandit,” entered the Mobil Mart, located along West Broad and South Ogden, and demanded cash around 8 a.m.

The man also is tied to a West Broad Street Speedway early Thursday morning. The man also may be linked to a robbery there on Monday.

The clerk complied with his demands after the man flashed a black pistol. The robber fled with about $200 in cash and six cartons of cigarettes.

Police said that the robber matched the description of a robber who targeted a Speedway gas station clerk along Harrisburg Pike Wednesday morning.

The man also could be responsible for robberies at a Thornton's station on Norton Road, a Thornton's station on North Wilson Road and nearly a dozen more in recent weeks.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Duffer said that the armed robber strikes in broad daylight no matter how many people are around.

In one instance, the “Green Glove Bandit” struck in the presence of a little girl.

“He’s very bold, and to me, that equates to someone very dangerous,” Duffer said. “He’s showing a gun. He’s pointing it at people.”

Muhammad Tahir said that he was one of the “Green Glove Bandit’s” victims.

Tahir’s Herbert’s Market, located on Sullivant Avenue, was allegedly robbed twice by the man, once on Nov. 3 and another time on Nov. 7.

“He hit me and said, ‘Give me money. If you don’t give me money, I will kill you.’”

Tahir said that he feared for his life.

“I opened the drawer and gave him money, and he said, ‘Hurry up. Hurry up!” Tahir said.

Tahir said that he hoped the robber would be captured soon.

“It’s terrible,” Tahir said. “I hope they catch (him) before another clerk’s life is threatened by the thief with the green gloves.”

The man is described as in his 40s with a salt-and-pepper goatee, a thin build and between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

He has been seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and bright green gloves.

Speedway has issued a $1,000 for information about the "green glove bandit"
