Columbus School Leaders Respond To Latest Allegations Regarding Data Manipulation

The top official at Columbus City Schools went on record on Thursday denying recent allegations that her district has interfered with an ongoing investigation by the State Auditor's Office.

Dr. Gene Harris sent an email to supporters that stated that the district is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Two days ago, 10 Investigates reported that the top attorney for the auditor accused district officials of bullying tactics against its employees who were talking to investigators looking into allegations of attendance and grade tampering.

The email Harris sent stated news outlets have caused problems.

It states in part that "the relentless drumbeat of media of coverage ... has caused stress and worry to many."

She went on to say that the district should not lose sight of what is expected which is "to provide a safe and secure environment and a high-quality education for each student in Columbus City Schools."
