Interstate 71 in both directions was shut down near state Route 30 in Richland County Wednesday night just before 9 p.m.

The Ohio Highway Patrol said that a leaking semi was pulled to the side of the road and a hazardous materials team was called to the scene.

The OHP did not say what the material was that was leaking from the semi, but did say it was a large HAZMAT spill.

The road reopened around 2:00 a.m.  There were no injuries reported.
