A man was shot and left along a rural Delaware County roadway only to be found Friday evening.

Detectives said the man was found along Red Bank Road in Harlem Township around 6 p.m.

Investigators do not know if the man was shot near the road or just dropped there.

He went to a nearby house, where the resident called 911.

"He's lying on the ground by my door, banging on the door, saying he's been shot," the caller told dispatchers.

The caller did not open the door but police responded to the home.

The individual was identified as Dontee Gervins. Gervins has a criminal history that includes robbery and drug trafficking charges.

Gervins remained hospitalized on Tuesday.

Authorities are trying to determine if the shooting could be drug related.
