Police are searching for a man who they said fled from police after they tried to stop him on a warrant for a felony charge Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers tried to stop the man, identified as Richard Mickens, near Macsway Avenue and Hamilton Road shortly after 11 a.m.

Police said that the man was wanted on felony narcotics charges out of Licking County.

Mickens, who was released from jail on drug charges last year, struck a number of vehicles including a police cruiser, in a Chase bank parking lot. Police said that Mickens nearly struck an undercover officer.

The man then fled police in a black truck and later got out of the vehicle and fled on foot near Livingston Avenue and Courtright Road.

Witnesses said that they were surprised at the scene.

"I came outside to see what's going on, to see what happened, and it makes me kind of nervous," said Leonard Stewart. "It makes me mighty nervous. That's my car. He almost hit my car right there."

Police said that in addition to the drug warrant, Mickens now is wanted on a felony assault charge.
