Police said that they believed alcohol was a factor in a fatal double-vehicle crash on Monday.

According to police, 50-year-old Clarence D. Dickerson was driving his 1994 Chevy Astro onto James Road from Interstate 70 at about 4:30 p.m.

For unknown reasons, Dickerson left the road and traveled across the north and southbound lanes of James Road, striking a Honda CRV driven by 38-year-old Melissa B. Rone.

Rone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dickerson was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

The crash remained under investigation.
