The Lithopolis Chief of Police caught a suspected thief Friday afternoon.
The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office said Rodney Dean Hunckler was confronted by a homeowner as he removed tools from the homeowner's garage on Mason Road.
Deputies said Hunckler rang the doorbell, then backed his truck up to the garage and began loading it with items.
The homeowner said Hunckler fled when he confronted him.
The sheriff's office issued an alert on Hunckler's Ford Ranger.
Lithopolis Police Chief Wesley (Jay) Barton said he spotted the truck around 12:40 p.m.
Chief Barton said Hunckler is charged with driving with a suspended license.
The sheriff's office said the Mason Road homeowner positively identified Hunckler as the man stealing from his garage earlier in the day.
Sheriff's deputies interviewed Hunckler Friday afternoon.
He will be transported to the Main Street jail.
The sheriff's office said Hunckler has prior charges for drugs and trafficking drugs.
