'Clean Cut' Man Wielding Ax Robs Gas Station

Police were working to identify a man accused of using an ax to rob a gas station.

According to Whitehall Police, the man walked into the Shell gas station, located at 4780 E. Broad St., and pulled an ax from his jacket.

Investigators said that the man slammed the ax down, shattering the glass on the counter, and demanded cash from the register.

The man fled after grabbing money from the drawer. Security cameras in the store captured a clear image of the man smiling.

Witnesses described the robber as a "clean cut" man between 18-23 years old. He stood approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 150-180 pounds.
