World War II Veteran Shares Special Moment During Election Chaos

UPDATED: Tuesday November 6, 2012 7:55 AM

As President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney made their mad dash for the finish line, one person made a personal connection with a candidate.

Harkless Hutchings, a World War II Veteran, took advantage of one of Obama's Columbus appearances to put the candidate to the test.

On Nov. 2, Obama presented 95-year-old Hutchings with a presidential coin while at a rally in Hilliard.

"My father opened up his hand and said, 'Do you remember giving me this?' and the president said, 'Yes, I do remember giving you that,'" Annette Dominguez said.

10TV cameras were rolling to capture the moment.

"It was just, pretty amazing," Dominguez said.

The president told Hutchings that the coin served as a special invitation to the White House.

"That's something I'll never forget as long as I live," Hutchings said.
