The Ohio Department of Transportation said it is putting green strobe lights on its snowplows this winter.
ODOT officials said Ohio is the first state in the nation to use the new technology.
According to ODOT, studies show that green lights are more easily detected by the human eye.
The new green lights, along with new white lights, will be added to the existing amber lights creating a color combination unique to ODOT.
Workers are in the process of equipping the lights and inspecting vehicles for its 3,000 drivers.
