An elementary school student said that a man in a van tried to pick her up as she walked alone to Binns Elementary School on the southwest side Thursday morning.

The 10-year-old girl told officials at the school that a man in a van offered her a ride around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Salisbury Road and Stephens Drive.

The girl said it was a two tone blue van with the words "Fish, Chicken and Steak" on the side. It was lighter blue on top and darker on the bottom.

Police investigated the incident on Thursday and found that the man in the van had a 6-year-old Binns Elementary School student in his custody and was in the area to drop the child off.

Police said that no charges would be filed against the unidentified man.
