Marion police are investigating a 60-year-old man’s death as a homicide.
According to police, Allan Brown was found dead at about 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday at a home on East Church Street.
Wednesday would have been Brown’s 61st birthday. Instead of celebrating, police were investigating his death as a murder.
Neighbors said that they were shocked to hear what happened.
“I’ve got three kids, so I’m going to be looking out a lot more,” said Autumn Shirley.
She said that she used to see Brown walking his dog nearly every morning and sitting around a campfire every night.
Shirley said that she could not imagine why anyone would want to hurt him.
“He was a good guy,” Shirley said. “He liked to help people out. He helped us build a tree house for one of our sons.”
Several neighbors said that they did not hear or see anything out of the ordinary prior to police pulling up last night.
Police would only say that they were investigating Brown’s death as a homicide and that he was murdered.
“It’s sad, very sad, that you can’t even be in your own home now,” Shirley said.
