Hurricane Sandy is not only causing heavy rains and winds along the east coast of the United States, she is also expected to bring severe weather to central and southeast Ohio.
It has the potential to leave tens of thousands of people without power, water, or other basic necessities.
Red Cross volunteers will be conducting a phone bank from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29-Nov.2 at the WBNS-10TV studios.
"This will be a large, costly relief response and we need help now," Matt Bertram, CEO of the American Red Cross Central-Southeast Ohio Region said. "People can help by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief online, by text or by phone."
Donations help the Red Cross provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by disasters like Hurricane Sandy. To donate, people can visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions may also be sent to someone's local Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
Central Ohio residents can also make donations at any Huntington Banks. You can go to any Huntington Bank to give money to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.
