Woman Dies After Being Struck In West Columbus

A 30-year-old woman was pronounced dead early Friday morning after being struck while attempting to cross West Broad Street.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Officials identified the woman as Deemarie Speakman.

Speakman was attempting to cross West Broad Street at Old Village Road in Prairie Township at about 10:30 p.m., when she was struck by a 65-year-old driver who was traveling west on West Broad Street.

Speakman was taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at about 12:35 a.m.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the crash.

The fatal crash was under investigation.
