Police have taken several reports of tree service scams in the area of Hilliard.

According to police, with so many trees needing removed because of ash borers, central Ohio has become a prime target for companies trying to scam citizens.

Hilliard police advise those looking for tree companies to check with the Better Business Bureau and to make sure companies are licensed and bonded through the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.

They also advise that residents do not pay money upfront.

Anyone with information or who thinks he has been a victim of a scam is asked to call the Hilliard Division of Police at 614-334-2321.
