A 49-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy have been charged in connection with a man's shooting death.
According to the Licking County Prosecutor's Office, Danny G. Hensley of Columbus is accused of shooting and killing 69-year-old Tom Miller shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday. Miller was found in a vehicle between two barns near the intersection of Mink and Broad streets.
According to Miller's wife, Orfie, a security company called their home shortly before 7 a.m. and her husband went to the storage barn to check it out. He arrived before the police.
Prosecutors said that Hensley has been charged with aggravated murder and was being held without bond.
A 15-year-old boy, Jessie Muncy, was also taken into custody and is now charged with aggravated robbery, breaking and entering and murder in connection with Miller's death.
WBNS talked to a woman who said she was the aunt of the 15-year-old.
“Yesterday when he called me up, he said ‘Aunt Tina… I need help,” said Tina Scarberry.
Scarberry said she convinced her nephew to turn himself in.
Although investigators do not believe Muncy ever handled the gun, he is charged with murder, aggravated robbery and breaking and entering.
Prosecutors said that they believe the teen was an accomplice and that Hensley fired the fatal shot.
“I stayed with him that was the hardest to see him walk away, I didn't want him to walk away. I wanted to take him home," said Scarberry.
Scarberry said her nephew and Hensley lived together and that the teen's mother was dating Hensley who has a long criminal record that goes back nearly 30 years.
