Man Jailed After Allegedly Beating Another With Metal Baseball Bat

A man accused of beating another man was jailed after surrendering on Sunday.

According to police, 25-year-old William Swanson attacked 21-year-old George Chapman with a metal baseball bat on Thursday evening on South Skidmore Street.

Swanson was charged with felonious assault.

Court documents stated that Swanson saw Chapman allegedly shoving his girlfriend on the porch of a home on Skidmore Street. Swanson then struck Chapman, who collapsed unresponsive.

Police issued a warrant for Swanson’s arrest. Swanson surrendered to police.

Chapman was hospitalized with serious injuries because of the alleged attack. He suffered from a skull fracture, bleeding in the brain and bleeding from the left ear.

Swanson was jailed on $100,000 bond on Monday.
