Woman Mourns Husband Shot, Killed During Alleged Burglary

One person is dead following a shooting on Mink Street in Pataskala early Sunday morning, according to police.

Thomas Miller, 69, was killed when he went to investigate a possible criime in progress.

His wife, Orfie, said a security company called their home shortly before 7 a.m, and her husband went to the storage barn to check it out. He arrived before the police.

"He's got all the tools you can think of, equipment, supplies, he's got them all," explained Orfie.

She said Thomas was an Ohio State graduate and Air Force veteran. They were married for 43 years and lived in Pataskala for two.

Miller was found in a vehicle between two barns near the intersection of Mink and Broad streets.

According to Orfie, the equipment barn had been broken into at least 20 times.

One man was taken into custody. The suspect was apprehended with use of a Taser and taken to Licking Memorial Hospital with chest pains, according to authorities.

"To take somebody's life like this is just unbelievable, not right, not fair. I hope they make them pay,” she said.

The suspect's name was not released. Authorities said there may be another suspect involved.
