Family members spoke out after a mother of three was struck Tuesday.

Grove City police said that Larra R. Stone was in critical condition after being struck while walking near the 2200 block of Holton Road Tuesday night.

“There’s fluid on her brain,” brother Bryan Cotner said. “I know there’s a broken back.”

The vehicle involved in the crash was described as a light-colored 2004-2006 Acura MDX.

Investigators said the vehicle that was believed to be involved in the crash was found at a residence Wednesday evening, and a suspect was being questioned.

The suspect's name was not released.

While detectives work to learn more about the crash, Cotner thought about what could have avoided the tragedy—sidewalks.

“People fly down this road, it’s ridiculous,” Cotner said.

Cotner said that he was concerned because each day school children are forced to walk through yards to avoid being struck by drivers. He said that his sister was en route from Kroger when she was struck.

A witness told police that the car hit her so hard that her body traveled from the roadway and landed 25 feet away in this ditch.

Police also asked that anyone with information about the crash contact police at 614-277-1710.

“She opened her eyes once this morning and she was able to follow a command that he had given her,” Cotner said.”That's good news.”

Charges have not been filed.
